Edward Manet (French: Édouard Manet, January 23, 1832-April 30, 1883), was born in Paris, France, the father of realism and impressionism.
At first glance, Manet‘s painting style should belong to the classical realism, as the details of the characters are quite realistic. But the reason why Manet is also classified as an impressionist painter is that the subject he painted overturned the conservative thinking of realism. To paint about war, he painted scenes about conflicts and execution. To draw about a picnic, he drew a controversial contrast, with naked women naturally sitting among gentlemen in suits. Manet clearly stated that Impressionism is not only distinguished by painting skills, but also in its theme.
